Liv Tyler has been famous for decades, but her skin still looks the same as it did when she starred in movies like Empire Records and Armageddon. Apparently, that’s no accident.

Tyler revealed in a new video for Vogue that she has a 25-step skin care routine that she follows religiously. (Yup, 25 steps!) “The more I do this stuff, the better I feel inside,” the 42-year-old actress said. “And the more calm I feel, the better my skin looks on the outside.”

By the way, Tyler said she’s really passionate about skin care (in case you didn’t pick up on that). “My secret obsession — a passion of my whole life — is skin care,” she said. “I think I would’ve become a facialist if I didn’t start acting.” Apparently, she inherited this from her dad, Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler. “My dad is so into skin care,” she said. “When I go visit him, I usually spend half of the time in the bathroom just going over products. His whole bathroom is filled!”

It’s safe to say her routine is pretty intense (and 25 steps is a lot), but we rounded up a few highlights. Here are a few ways she keeps that youthful glow at 42.

    She exfoliates her skin.

“Okay, so to me, the secret to beautiful skin is exfoliation and keeping all the dead skin cells, sort of, buffed off your skin,” Tyler said. She showed off her “old favorite,” which is Astara’s Blue Flame Purification Mask, which is enriched with aloe vera, tea tree oil, kaolin and bentonite clays, and vitamin E. “It’s really good to sort of draw out any impurities in your skin, and it also gives it a good glow,” Tyler said.

She likes to de-puff her eyes.

Tyler specifically called out Talika Eye Therapy Patches (also a favorite of Drew Barrymore’s!) as a great remedy for under-eye puffiness. Tyler actually stores hers in the fridge for an extra touch of cooling to help combat swelling.

    She’s big on hydration.

After doing her exfoliating mask, Tyler slathers on another a hydrating mask: Dr. Barbara Sturm’s Face Mask. “It’s very goopy and thick and kind of just feels cool and hydrating and moisturizing,” she said. This mask is pretty pricey, but she also uses a more basic moisturizer, Avene’s Rich Compensating Cream. “I use this a lot on set when they’re doing my makeup. It’s good for under makeup.”

    She slathers on face oil.

“For moisturizing, I really like using oils on my face,” Tyler said as she opened a bottle of Rodin’s Luxury Face Oil, which contains a blend of plant oils. “It smells really delicious.” She takes her time to massage it into her skin — below her eyes, behind her ears, and down her neck.

    She goes for natural makeup.

“The most important thing about makeup, I think, is that it has to be really, really well blended, so it really sits in your pores,” Tyler said. “I really like makeup to look like you have nothing on.”

After applying a light layer of foundation, Tyler adds a natural highlighter (Glossier Haloscope) to add light to her cheekbones and cupid’s bow, a rosy blush (MAC Powder Blush), a sheer lip color (Glossier Generation G Sheer Matte Lipstick), brow gel to enhance her brows (Glossier Boy Brow), and mascara for a “fanned out” look (Clinique High Impact Waterproof Mascara).

    She’s all about green juice.

During her skin care routine, Tyler talked up the benefits of drinking plenty of water. “Water is a huge important factor in having good skin,” she said. “I know everybody says that, but sleep and water maybe are the most important things.”

She then whipped out a jar of green juice. “I make this crazy green juice which is hard if you don’t have time,” she said. “I know you can buy them but it’s better to get a juicer and make them.” Her juice has celery, cucumber, a little apple, and spinach or kale. “Your body loves green things,” she said. “So, drink green juice. It’s really good for your skin.”
