My husband, Rory, loves riding his bike. So much so that he spent most of the summer round-trip bike commuting to his office, which is about seven miles from our apartment.
So I assumed when Emmett was old enough, Rory would buy one of those baby-on-board bike seats that attach behind the grown-up seat on a big-people bike and take Emmett along of the ride.
But Rory says he's absolutely not bringing Emmett on his bike.
To me, the seats look super-safe. They're made of hard molded plastic with a padded seat and a five-point harness. And obviously baby has to wear a helmet. ( (I'd like it more if mom and dad were wearing helmets, too!))
Rory's rationale is that when a person riding a bike gets hit by a car, the person flies off and the bike gets run over. Okay, so maybe I don't want my baby on the back of a grown-up bike!
Do you ride with your kids on the back of your bike? Or do you feel like that's totally unsafe?
