Chrissie Frickman and her husband Dirk were thoroughly enjoying their 18th wedding anniversary with their two kids, soaking up the sun while on the open sea in Orange County, CA.
But what should've been a rela day spent cruising on their boat turned into a complete nightmare—all because of one clumsy dolphin.
The Frickmans happened upon a group of dolphins clustering near Dana Point Harbor, which was probably a sight to behold for the young kids. That is, until one slippery sea animal managed to jump into the Boston Whaler boat and land straight on top of Mrs. Frickman, shattering both of her ankles.
Now don't get us wrong, we LOVE looking at these silly creatures bob their way through the sea, but when one of them dives into your boat it's a completely different story.
Mr. Frickman was somehow able to push the bloodied dolphin off of his struggling wife, but wasn't able to return him to the sea until he got back to the dock. And although Mrs. Frickman had to be sent straight to the ER for her injuries, the dolphin walked, er swam, away with only a few minor cuts on his nose and tail. Here's a video of his release:
When the unusual incident was reported to authorities, DJ Haldeman, a harbor patrol sergeant said he "had never seen anything like it before."
Maybe Flipper just wanted some human friends? Sadly, breaking ankles is not the way to go, big guy.
