Things at Sunday's Ringling Bros. show in Rhode Island got scarier than the audience expected when several performers were hurt in front of their eyes. In the act just before intermission, eight women were suspended by only their hair to form a human chandelier. This time though, where they fell on a dancer. In total, 11 people were sent to the hospital, but . "Everybody's conscious. Everybody's doing well. We ask everybody to pray for the girls," tour manager Roman Garcia said.
The hair-hanging act had been part of the touring show since February, and spokesman Steve Payne stressed that each location they visit is meticulously checked for security flaws. "We take the health and safety of our performers and our guests very seriously, and our company has a safety department that spends countless hours making sure that all of our equipment is indeed safe and effective for continued use," he stated.
The cause of the equipment failure is under investigation, and the rest of the Providence, RI, shows have been cancelled. for anyone who witnessed the accident and would like free counseling.
