If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to be a 7-year-old starring on reality TV, former Dance Moms star Mackenzie Ziegler would be the girl to ask. As the the youngest member of the original elite team and the sister of Maddie Ziegler, Abby Lee Miller’s favorite student, there was a lot of pressure on Mackenzie. Luckily, thanks to her talent and personality, she always managed to hold her against the older girls.
But like the rest of the original Dance Moms cast, Mackenzie has moved on from the Abby Lee Dance Company (ALDC) and made a name for herself outside of the studio. At 15 years old, she has a huge social media following, hit pop songs, fashion and makeup lines, and even a book.
Why did Mackenzie Ziegler leave Dance Moms?
Mackenzie and Maddie Ziegler both left Dance Moms after five years on the show, though unlike Chloe Lukasiak’s dramatic exit, theirs came with an amicable goodbye to the platform that gave them the recognition they have today. The two made their exit in order to pursue other opportunities and creative outlets.
What is Mackenzie Ziegler doing in 2019?
Since leaving the show in 2016, Mackenzie has been making a name for herself outside the dance world, but she hasn't left the stage completely. Last summer, she and Maddie embarked on an epic dance tour in Australia and New Zealand, before adding another leg in the UK in the fall. In 2018, she also competed on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars: Juniors where she made it all the way to the finals with partner Sage Ronson.
In addition to dancing, she penned her very own book titled, Kenzie’s Rules for Life: How to Be Happy, Healthy, and Dance to Your Own Beat which was released last May.
Mackenzie also has her very own makeup and merchandise line. She currently has a partnership with the brand FanJoy, with which she helped design a comfy collection of sweatshirts and tees. She also frequently shares sponsored posts about her signature glittery pink TurnBoard, a tool used to help dancers practice and execute turns that can sync to smartphones for performance stats.

But her main passion these days is singing. In November, she released her very first album, Phases, which features a track written by Grammy-winning pop star Sia. Her most popular music video, "Breathe," has over 29 million views on Youtube.
Mackenzie keeps up with her fans on social media, boasting an impressive following. She has over 3.2 million subscribers on Youtube and 12.4 million followers on Instagram, where she often posts updates about what she and Maddie are up to.
What’s next for Mackenzie Ziegler?
Mackenzie will be joining PRETTYMUCH, an American-Canadian pop boy band, on their tour this summer as their official supporting act. She's friendly with the guys in the group, and has featured them on her YouTube channel before.
Suffice to say, the future looks bright for the former "baby" of the ALDC.
