premiered last night on NBC, and with it brought a whole new set of questions. The episode exposed viewers to , including Jack and Rebecca's first date and Kate and Toby's attempt to start IVF treatment. But it appears the biggest cliffhanger — namely who "her" is that old Randall wants Tess to see — still remains a big mystery.
Fans did get one step closer to finding out her identity, though. At the very end of season 3's first episode, viewers learn that after "it's time to go see her," he calls Toby and asks if he's "coming down."
Toby responds by saying he "doesn't know if he should [come down]," but Randall persists and says "she wants you to be there too." The camera then pans to Toby in bed and shows that the other half of the bed is made up and Kate isn't there. Toby, presumably, then gets up and goes down to meet Tess and Randall.
So, what does everyone think this all means? Not surprisingly, the episode opened the flood gates to a lot of fresh fan theories – most of which are very, very dark. While fans originally thought, many Tweeters now seem to be leaning towards Kate:
But Rebecca's name is being thrown around a lot as well:
On Reddit, seem to be speculating now that ". But is that too obvious? One fan believes so, and thinks the answer actually has to do with Toby and Kate's future daughter.
Yikes, this is pretty grim. But luckily, the above fan theory is most likely not probable, given that Sterling K. Brown told that "her" is someone "we have met over the first two seasons." Unless everyone somehow missed a HUGE clue and they did show Kate and Toby's daughter somehow (which is possible, because this show is tricky like that), "her" is probably either Beth, Rebecca, or Kate.
Of course, next Tuesday everyone could be completely proven wrong and then think "her" is actually Annie or Zoe. You never know what's around the corner or how Dan Fogelman and the rest of the TIU crew is going to throw us off again.
Kleenex box, until next week ...
