No blizzard is going to keep them from going to church: Students from Dowling Catholic High School in Des Moines, Iowa, and members of Holy Spirit Church in South Dakota, were among stranded on the snow-covered Pennsylvania Turnpike yesterday afternoon, but that didn't stop them from having service.
Churchgoers built an altar from the snow, and dozens gathered around as a priest led mass. A member from Holy Spirit Church captured the once-in-a-lifetime service on camera. The video, above, shows those in attendance surrounded by a winter wonderland, singing a hymn.
Both Catholic groups were returning from Washington, D.C., where they had participated in March for Life, when their buses became stuck in the snow along with 500 other vehicles. Traffic began moving again around 8 p.m. last night following the almost 24-hour standstill, CNN .
