In my opinion, New Year's Eve is one of the most overhyped holidays. Everyone freaks out and plans for months ahead of time about what they'll do and where they'll go, but then it always seems to be kind of a letdown. Sure, its fun, but worth all the worry? Probably not.
That's why I love the idea of doing something totally different…like a race at midnight. Now, I know for many people the idea of bundling up and running a few miles late at night seems unappealing, but I think it's a cool and unique way to ring in the new year.
New York City hosts a midnight run in Central Park and I'm determined to participate sometime in the next couple of years because I think that feeling the accomplishment of finishing a race and doing something healthy is a perfect way to start fresh in the new year.
I did a little digging to check if this was a NYC-specific event and luckily, New Yorkers aren't the only crazy ones! From Sabetha, Kansas to Philadelphia, NYE races are offered.

Happy (Almost) New Year!
